G20 Cannes restrictions : Novembre 2011

With the G20 summit coming up soon, and taking place in Cannes, there will be severe restrictions on flying during that period. Referring to AIP SUP nº138/11:

Cannes airport
No movements (IFR or VFR) between 1st November (00:00z) to 5th November (11:00z) for private aviation. All flights without a link to the G20 are suspended.

Nice airport
Concerning Nice airport, restrictions applied will be similar to those during the French-African summit and the royal wedding of  the SAS crowned prince of Monaco.

Accreditation requests must be submitted by a local ground handler between 20/10 and 27/10 9:00 to 1700 local.

General aviation is last in the list of priority for overnight / longterm parking. It is also to be expected that during this period, there will be particularly long delays for refuelling.

Is your helicopter being looked after correctly?

Did you know that...

Since  September 2009 all aircraft registered in the European community require a contract with an EASA Part M approved company to ensure the aircraft is kept within the appropriate controlled environment. In addition, at the beginning of 2012 there will be a new law introduced concerning all non European registered helicopters (M, VP, N etc) to be checked by an approved CAMO T organisation when operating in Europe. 

To keep on the right side of the law, you need to choose one of the three options mentioned below: 

1 Find someone who can take care of all of your maintenance needs : For this you would require a maintenance centre that is Part 145 (a workshop) approved and has sub Part G that will manage your Airworthiness. This option means that the maintenance centre will arrange everything for you and leaves you with no control over the management of your maintenance.

2 You can contract with a Part M company (CAMO) to supervise the Sub Part G allowing the owner to have a third party that will help him to find the best workshop which can be easily changed if the owner is not happy with his workshop.

3 The Owner can perform the maintenance themself and then arrange for an annual audit by an approved CAMO organisation

Whichever option you opt for please keep in mind that the Owner of the aircraft is above-all responsible for the Airworthiness of his machine. You need to choose the best option that works for your operation.

Prepare yourself for the Caribbean now!

We're starting early this year. Before you know it the MED season will be over and it will be time to prepare for the Caribbean again.
In this industry we are used to last minute changes, and not being able to plan much in advance as schedules are always changing.
So things that we can organise early, its always best to get out of the way. 

The Caribbean permit is valid for 1 full year from the day it is received. By applying now, it will be issued in September 2011 and be valid through to September 2012. This will avoid the last minute stress of waiting for the permit while the boat is due to arrive in the Caribbean!! An added stress that we know you can do without!

MONACO GRAND PRIX is upon us again and here is your annual reminder to make sure that you have everything that you need.

From the 26th to 29th May Monaco will be buzzing with excitement & all the glitz & glamour will be on show for all to see - that is why arriving in style is essential!
